Friday morning, eleven women and myself will start the journey from Saratoga Springs to Lake Placid. We are running the Ragnar Adirondack Relay. I cannot wait. I am anticipating this relay so much I started packing over the weekend. Big mistake! I need that running gear prior to leaving. Oops!
I am runner six. I will run three legs of the relay and these will total just less than 22 miles in just over 24 hours. I am taking this in stride as I am eight weeks out from my goal race for the fall – the Anthem Richmond Marathon. 22 miles would equal my 16 mile long run and one 6 mile run from earlier in the week. It’s all going to fit right into the plan.
My biggest problem with packing is sports bras. I truly need new ones. On top of that, I need more than two. Truthfully, keeping on a damp sports bra tends to make me colder than even cold weather. I am going to go out and do some last minute shopping either tonight or tomorrow morning. On the big list are many different things but here is a partial list for you all to peruse. Tell me what I’m missing.
- Bagels (for both vans)
- Clif Bars from Weis (discovered/found iced gingerbread and spiced pumpkin pie yesterday)
- sports bras
- a vest (mine is not approved as far as I can tell)
This weekend is a homecoming of sorts for me. I haven’t really spent any time in Lake Placid since the 1980 Winter Games – that means 33 years since I’ve been there. Photos will be coming next week. If you want to follow along on the relay, follow me on Twitter and on Instagram.
You must be getting so excited! I want to see pictures!
