Last week was a total bust as far as my half marathon training goes. I know that the inaugural Asheville Half Marathon at Biltmore Estate will be fine. I pushed out 8 miles today so I know that I will be able to run a half in a month.
Most of my movement of late has been shoveling. The approximately 15 inches that we ended up with last week caused 5.5 hours of shoveling over a two day period. The snow, in the end, was piled so high that I barely lift the shovel up high enough to remove the last of the snow. I was to the point where I had no choice but to carry snow further away than normal to be able to get it off the driveway.
You can only imagine how thrilled I was when it started snowing yesterday. First, it started while I was at a gig. That meant I had to drive home in it. The roads were ugly when I left The Binghamton Club but I did the smart thing and stayed on Main Street. The highway had more accidents than the in town roads, even though plenty of the in town roads were in worse shape. For some reason, people understand that snow means slow down in town but not on the highway.
What is your favorite way to move? I would love to take a night and just go out and dance all night. That is probably not going to happen soon but who knows.
Sounds like a tough time with all that shovelling! I found you through SITS and I have to admit to being a NON-runner. In fact I hate running with a passion, but I do love to walk. I hike a lot in the mountains near where I live so I get out into the countryside and get fresh air while exercising too.
Popping by from SITS Comment Love Tribe. Hope the snow eases up and you’re staying warm. Would love to take a night on the town too. xo
Dropping in from SITS Girls Comment Love Tribe. I hope you’re keeping warm and get that night on the town. Sending you some sunshine from Oz. xo
Sunshine is wonderful! I hope your enjoying your summer because I am ready to steal it back. I love winter and snow but the negative temperatures – let’s just say I didn’t mind them when I was in college (younger) but now prefer a slightly warmer winter.
My favourite kind of moving is running. I do the school run, running every day!
I never liked running until I started back in Sept 2007. Now, I hate not running. š
SNOW! we are about to get hit hard so I feel your pain. The only running I do is after my 19 month old daughter! Coming over from SITS
I have been doing so little moving lately that I’m not sure I have a favorite way. š
UGH there has been so much snow this winter. And no thaw time. Spring is going to be a mess.
My mom and I were discussing the horrible mess that will come with a thaw just this morning.
I can tell you that my LEAST favorite ways to move involve snow!! I had a great experience with Zumba that last few months. My class didn’t get enough people in it this go around, so I’m not doing anything now. š¦
Stopping by from #SITSblogging!
Well goodness….YOU are getting a complete workout just shoveling all that snow. SO happy that I live where we only (with the exception of this past January) only have the warm white stuff…hehe
I use to love to run but with the old age thingy having crept up on me I keep it at walking these days. LOVE our beach walks and trail walks!!
Happy SITS Comment Love Tuesday!!
I Turbo, weights and take walks š
I use weights, too. Probably my best movement year was when I was also swimming and taking a kick boxing class.
Dancing all night with my girlfriends is always one of my favorite nights out! š We’ve had a lot of snow in Michigan as well, so its about time for me to organize another night out! š Great blog. Found you via Sits Girls, following you as well (easy peasy, since we are both on wordpress). Cheers!
Goodness! I can’t imagine doing a half marathon! I was training for a 5k…but my knee has decided that it doesn’t like it when I run š¦ Doc has told me elliptical only for a while š¦
Heal quickly. I love the half distance. I’ve also run 6 marathons.
HELLO
I have been doing so little moving lately that Iām not sure I have a favorite way. š
