It’s that time of the month again – not the end or the beginning but the reveal day. Let’s turn things upside down in honor of April and start with some details about Foodie Pen Pals.
Here are some details about Foodie Penpals. In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal! This month the reveal is on the first so as to be on a weekday.
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US, Canadian & European residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. Same with Europeans. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
If you’re from the US or Canada and are in participating for November, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by April 4th as pairings will be emailed on April 5th!
*If you’re from Europe, please CLICK HERE to signup.
Now on to the good stuff. In March, Ashley had my name. Strange thing is Ashley had my daughter-in-law in February. I loved Lydia’s box so was so excited when both Lydia and Ashley clued me in that they had been pen pals in February. And – I really need a drumroll here …
What a yummy box full! Unfortunately, I have been super busy the end of this month and have yet to try the Miso soup or the Kasha. The Kasha is on the meal plan for this evening. Holidays screw up all my meal plans. The soup is going to be lunch one of these first few days of April as the snow word is again in the forecast.
The day I got my box I had been craving chocolate. I try hard to not have a lot of chocolate in the house as I have little or no will power when it comes to not eating all of it. These chocolate covered blueberries were perfect to curb that chocolate craving. First, the package was perfect sized. Even if I ate them all, it was not the size I would buy of chocolate covered fruits at Sam’s.
This past weekend I did a long run that went up and over a rather hilly road nearby. The weather was perfect but as always happens, maybe not that day but definitely by the next day I was starved, constantly. I was also exhausted as Easter Vigil Mass is long. I got home from church about 10:10 and no nap during the day. Sunday, Easter Sunday, was hard as I was tired and rungry. The pumpkin flavored bar was the perfect fit for my afternoon slump, before dinner. Oh how I wished I lived where I had more variety in what I can purchase.
Thanks to Ashley for the yummies! I am now off to sign-up for April!
I love chocolate covered blueberries!! Yum! What a fun box!
I loved them so much I am thinking a big bag of those and of the chocolate covered pomegranate seeds when I am at Sam’s next. 🙂
This looks awesome! I just found foodie pen pals and can’t wait until I can do it next month!
