The Situation Room

Jack Cafferty, on CNN’s The Situation Room, just asked the following question:  “If you could choose any former U.S president to lead this country now, who would it be and why? ”

I could not get to the computer fast enough to rattle off my thoughts to Jack on this question.  The answer came to me rather quickly and without much hesitation.  I would choose Jimmy Carter.  I can almost hear all the heckling from the peanut gallery.

No, I don’t think that Carter’s presidency was stellar.  I do, though, think that the progress he has made since his presidency for the betterment of humanity across the world have made him just the man for the United States during the turbulent times we are currently in and we are headed for in the future.

  1. Hillary should not follow the footstep of Mike huckabee and stay in a loosing battle…she should bow out gracefully…

  2. I should think that kennedy would have been the best choice.they were so afraid that he was doing such a good job they had him assasinated.I think barack obama would make a great president as he is fresh and new and not all wrapped up in washingtons bull.

  3. Dear Jack:
When will America grow up. It is those chest beating missionaries of negative rumor that should be focused upon. In the Old Testament, it is the “informers” who are held in the lowest esteem.
In France, Mrs. Mitterand invited her late husband’s mistress and their child to a place of honor at the church and state funerals.
Senator McCain endured unspeakable tortures in North Vietnam. We should give him a medal every year for the strength of character he demonstrated then and that he continues to demonstrate with his beloved country now.

  4. Franklin D. Roosevelt because he had the intelligence and wisdom to lead the country away from fear under very similar circumstances to what we have experienced in the past few years instead of using fear to control people. Also, he inherited a busted economy similar to what the Bush presidency will be leaving and was able to rebuild the economy to the benefit of all Americans.

  5. The media has done, and is constantly trying to find ways to bring our next president Barack Obama down. Rev. Wright is not running for president. We need to stick to the issues of the economy, the Iraq war, health care, and the education of our children. Ask yourselves this question; What were your pastors preaching from their pulpits during the civil rights movement when black christians, and others were being brutalized? Make sure you especially ask Lou Dobbs this question because his thoughts are reminscent of that era.
