Disclaimer: I received VegaSport Electrolyte Hydrator in exchange for my honest review as part of the Fuel Your Better campaign by VegaSport and Fit Approach. All opinions are my own.
I don’t know about you but training for a longer distance race, half marathon or longer, is as much about training for fueling during the race as it is training my body to run that distance. Most races I have run either give out Gatorade or Powerade during the race for an electrolyte replacement. I am not fond of either of these, though do occasionally drink Gatorade slightly watered down. Both taste way too sweet for my palate. I went in search of a way to fuel my better.
I have been trying to find the perfect solution to my fueling during a half marathon, especially now the temperatures are heating up. I think I may have found the perfect solution with Vega Sport’s Electrolyte Hydrator. The berry flavor is perfect for a good summer run. I can fit one packet into the two bottles on my fuel belt. I rely on the actual race for water and utilize the Electrolyte Hydrator for help sustaining my race.
My first race trying Vega Sport’s Electrolyte Hydrator was my local half marathon, The Greater Binghamton Bridge Run. This was to be my second half marathon in eight days and I knew I wasn’t properly hydrated from the first one and that this one, regardless of cooler weather, was not going to be a walk in the park. I needed to be in better shape at the end as I had to drive to Norwich to pick up my daughter after from a week’s trip to Florida with my sister and brother-in-law.
My biggest problem with in race fuel is that my two eight ounce bottles tend to make it hard to utilize some forms of replacement fluids. VegaSport is just the right size. The berry flavor, when shaken in a bottle, mixes wonderfully with water and tastes great. I also love the electrolytes that are in the product.
Given the opportunity to recommend this product, I wholeheartedly do. I am about to fuel race number two with VegaSport Electrolyte Hydrator on Sunday when Buffalo is supposed to be a balmy 71F. I will be filling my fuel belt with VegaSport Electrolyte Hydrator.
How will #FuelYourBetter on your next race?
