I am not talking about the horn honking from someone being cut off in the mall parking lot. I’m also not talking about the screaming from one driver at another because of the traffic. I’m talking about Christmas and other holiday music.
I am that person who would play Christmas music all year round but, to make my children happy, I try to limit the Christmas music to between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Okay, really until New Year’s. What they do not hear, though, is that I run to Christmas music from about October on.
My Christmas running playlist has three different versions of “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” on it.
David Hansen, whom I follow on Twitter (@rev_david), created an Advent playlist on YouTube. You can listen to it here.
I, also, find myself singing the songs from the musical Godspell this time of year. “Prepare ye the way of the Lord”
My taste in Christmas music runs the gambit from Trans Siberian Orchestra to Mannheim Steamroller to country stars to pop stars to classics.
One of my favorite songs is “Breath of Heaven.
Do you have a favorite Christmas song? When do you start playing Christmas music?
I myself love Christmas music. I usually wait until Thanksgiving to break it out but listen until mid January. I grew up with the likes of Johnny Mathis, The Rat Pack, Ray Conniff Singers, Percy Faith just to name a few. Not much of a new style Christmas music fan. However I also grew up on Rock N Roll/Metal in the 1980’s when it was all the rage. The band Twisted Sister for a rock band does a killer take on Come Oh Ye Faithful in my opinion. Well if anything it is definitely entertaining. http://youtu.be/AAzE73oly50
