Wooot! Happy National Running Day!
Disclaimer: I am being compensated to tell you about the below contest. I think it’s a great win-win concept so would tell you about whether I was being compensated or not. Opinions, as always, are all mine because we all know I am very opinionated.
Do you own a Timex? As I was growing up – yup, I’m a bit on the older side, Timex was the watch to have. I know my first watch was a Timex. As with other watch companies, Timex has expanded beyond what I wore in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Now they have a whole sport watch line.
To help you celebrate National Running Day, Timex Sport is giving in a big way! First, if you are on Twitter or Instagram, you can help. Tweet or post to Instagram why you run and include the hashtag #imarunner. Timex Sport will donate $5, up to $15,000, to The One Fund. If you are unfamiliar, The One Fund was set up to help the victims of the bombings at the Boston Marathon this past April. Let’s get tweeting and putting photos on Instagram so that fund has an additional $15,000 by the end of the day.

Now, to honor those of you out there running, Timex Sport will draw 60 winners, via random.org, of a Timex Ironman watch. Want details that I haven’t provided? Check out their Facebook page (also a place to put more than 140 characters but not included in this contest from all I can tell) and here are the rules as we all know they are important.
Now, go run and then tweet or Instagram about why you run. #imarunner is your hashtag!!
Ironman was here this past weekend for the first time, and I keep seeing extremely glowing reviews! Raleigh knows how to support athletes!
We have a local sprint (I think) tri here with the swim in Dorchester Park. It’s the 30th.
