Chilly Chili 5K

I admit it has taken me a while to write about my second ever race – the Chilly Chili 5K in Cazenovia, New York.

Cazenovia is a small village outside of Syracuse, New York.  There is a small liberal arts college in town and a lake.  On top of the Chilly Chili in February, there is a 10 mile race around the lake on July 4th.

The Chilly Chili was amazingly well attended.  There were over 1100 runners and this was on a Sunday that the Super Bowl was on and the temps were below 20F – that’s air temp.  I am sure wind chills were close to 0F that day.

The course is well marked.  While not lined with villagers, there were many who braved the cold and snow to cheer on the runners and walkers.  The after party consisted of a chili contest among local restaurants and beer tasting.  Below are some shots from the Athletic Center at Cazenovia College during the after party.
