Summer Racing

It used to be that summer was the racing time. Season started in March but it didn’t really ramp up until summer. Now, I live where summer can be downright uncomfortable for almost any working out outside. But I do have a summer schedule.

My Summer Schedule

Even though summer will not begin until after the middle of June, I’m going with meteorologic summer which starts June 1. So here is my summer of racing.

June 8 – Black Mountain Monster – I signed up for the six hour version. I haven’t been on my feet for six hours in years. We’ll see if I make it a full six hours. I am hoping for at least three but four would be great. If I get all six, I’ll be ecstatic. Especially if I can walk the next day which is Pentecost so a huge church celebration. If you click that is Black Mountain Monster, you can sign up to join me in my madness.

June 22 – The Ride for Roswell – I will ride 34 miles in memory of my daughter-in-law Lydia. You can contribute by clicking here.

July 13 – Carolina Reaper – I return to the scene of my first ever DNF. I will finish this year.

Fall and True Race Season

I am currently only registered for one fall race and that is a half marathon that I have run previously. I first ran the Bethel Half Marathon in 2016. I didn’t register at all in 2017. In 2018, I dropped to the 5K. This fall I am running the half again. This is a beautiful race and I encourage people to run it.

I am toying with registering for Conquer the Mountain in Franklin, NC in November and I have one winter race already on my calendar.
