No, I can’t believe I typed that as a title. First off, when did December get here? I realize it usually comes after Thanksgiving but still … It is already the 3rd. Ack! So what did I do the first weekend in December?
I put the wreath up on the front door. Actually, it took a good deal of time on Sunday to get a hook up for the wreath. Then, being the impatient fool I am, I put the wreath on before the hook was set. Down both fell. Many times I did this before I finally got the tree to hang beautifully this Monday morning.
Then, came an even bigger challenge. I decided I was not going to wait for my children – they are all adults, you know – to get some items out of the living room before I put the Christmas tree up. The tree had been delivered on Monday. I was going to unbox it and get it up in the living room. I like to leave the tree up for a good four or five days without decorations on it. One of my favorite things is to get up early in the morning and have my coffee by tree light while the house is quiet. On top of that, the tree came in a box. It needs time to get back to real tree shape. Now, let me tell you a bit about this tree. Each part of the center plugs into the part below so there is no looking for plugs all over the tree. I think I am going to love this tree.
To sum up, I spent my weekend running and decorating a bit. Today I pulled three bins out of the garage with other decorations in them. I will start baking and sending cards and decorating the tree next weekend.
What did you do this past weekend? Do you have a traditional time when you put your tree up? How about when do you take your tree down?
