A Flair for Chardonnay (A Sadie Kramer Flair Mystery Book 1)
When flamboyant senior sleuth Sadie Kramer learns the owner of Cioccolato, her favorite chocolate shop, is in trouble, she heads for the California wine country with a tote-bagged Yorkie and a slew of questions. The fourth generation Tremiato Winery promises answers, but not before a dead body turns up at the vintners’ scheduled Harvest Festival.
All four Tremiato siblings have possible motives, as well as a few peripheral acquaintances, but only one could be the guilty party. As Sadie juggles truffles, tips and turmoil, she’ll need to sort the grapes from the wrath in order to find the identity of the killer.

I love Sadie Kramer. This is the second in the Kramer mysteries and can be read as a standalone. Sadie is a widow who seems to find a good mystery wherever she travels. She owns a cute boutique in San Francisco – one of my favorite cities in the US – but this particular book has little time spent in San Francisco.
Sadie has headed south to Monterrey to see a play at the invitation of an old friend. The friend is the stage manager at the local community theatre. I love community theatre so that added a special twist to this book for me to like. Unfortunately, after the dress rehearsal, the lead is found dead. Sadie helps her old friend by filling in back stage when another stage hand has to fill in on stage as an understudy. Of course, Sadie has her dog, Coco, with her and who ends up in the play by accident but Coco.
Sadie develops a connection to the actors and wants to help the local detective solve the murder. The twists and turns that accompany this particular book were ones I never saw coming. I really appreciate a mystery I can solve but this one kept me guessing until the last pages.
You should pick up a copy. It makes a great summer read – on the beach, in a hammock in the sun, on the back deck.

Sounds like another fun read, thanks for sharing your review today xx
Very fun read. Only regret is I wasn’t sitting on a beach reading it. I did read part of it in my hammock on my back deck, though.
