Valentine Hound Dog – A Book Review

If you love sweet romances (PG-rating), look no further than Rachelle Ayala’s Have a Hart series. The Harts are a family of San Francisco firefighters. Their family motto is: Heart comes first.

Former fireman Larry Davison covers his burn scars well, by working at an elementary school as a custodian where he finds a lost hound dog behind the dumpster.

Fashion designer Jenna Hart is in town to do a charity fashion show when she loses her top model, Little Treat. When Larry turns up with the puppy, she asks him to be in the show and bachelor auction.

Larry’s not sure he belongs in a fashion show and balks at being her good deed. Can Jenna convince Larry beauty is never skin deep and love’s arrow strikes not only the beautiful, but the bold?

The Hart family will delight you with clean and wholesome love stories, filled with family, friends [both people and animals].

Having read of Rachelle Ayala’s Hart Family Romances previously, I sort of knew what I was in for in this book. What I didn’t expect was to fall in love with Larry the way I did. Having been brought up with a father who was in the fire service, I have always hung around firemen. I know some of them can be obnoxious but most have hearts of gold. Larry proves to be no exception to that rule.
I cringed as I first got to know Larry through Jenna’s eyes. She saw him, as most in the community do, as a hero. The problem was he could not forgive himself the one child he could not save from a burning fire. It didn’t matter to him that he had saved five other children. He couldn’t see past the one he couldn’t save.
I love that Ayala sets these books in San Francisco as it is one of my favorite major cities in the US. I love to go to Golden Gate Park when I am in the area. I also love to walk the streets of the city. Downtown is beautiful but the pier area is my favorite, even though it tends to be rather commercialized.
I also love that there seems to be a pet in all the Hart books. I am aching to get my own pet but just do not think I have the time for one yet. I love reading about pets and how they come to be with their families.
Pick up this romance, Valentine Hound Dog,  to help you celebrate Valentine’s Day.
I received this book through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

  1. Thanks Nikki, so glad you love San Francisco. I also like walking along the streets, but prefer the Sunset district because it’s more neighborhood like. The pier is crowded and there’s always something to see. Love Golden Gate park, but I wish I saw the Buffalo the last time I was there. We walked right by it, but the dog I was with was tired, [old dog], so we left.

Thanks for your review, and yes, hard to find time for pets. Jenna thought she was slick letting Larry train her puppy.

    Best, Rachelle
